Krzyszof WODICZKO Art and War 2011
International Conference and Public Projection Survival Projection 2011

"Art and War 2011"

Kitanaka school will be holding a complex event "Krszysztof WODICZKO : Art and War" in August 2011.

We will invite the artist, Krszysztof WODICZKO who was born in Poland. This event is composed of the international symposium and public projection, and will be held as the Yokohama Triennale 2011 tied-up program.

Krzysztof Wodiczko is a artist for his early works of "public projection" on the walls of buildings and War memorials since 1980's. Afterwards, he has continued to create works which focused on the who are alienated from the society. He is now proposing the project of the War Memorial of the "9.11" which would be built at the center of the New York Bay in the form of a book 'City of Refuge' (Black Dog Publishing). And, he is also thinking about another project of re-designing the Arch of Triumph of Paris as the world institution for abolition of the war with various specialists such as psychologists, sociologists, philosophers and scientists. Of course, he is neither a simple idealistnor a pacifist.

Various panelists from the world will thoroughly discuss about his proposals and about what we can do for the bloody history . And a special artwork " Survival Projection 2011" which will be arranged from "War Veteran Vehicle" project for the post-earthquake Japan will be exhibited for the first time in the world.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us and hope all of you will join us in Yokohama.
